What a moving story. I pray Jay made it OK. You sound like a really nice person to show such concern at such a young age. You are to be commended for your efforts in trying to help this little boy. Good on you. Thank you for your great site!

Dee: I certainly hope so as well. As you know, sometimes the damage is so severe, it cannot be reversed.

I hope we have a good thoughtful kid instead of another saddening statistic. I also hope that his mother got some help for being abusive, or that the kid wound up in a better place.

Zee: You're most certainly right. Children are not being protected as they should in many homes around this world. My prayer or hope is that those who survive are able to break free from the shackles which bind them from living a life full of love and happiness.

Wendy: I'm sorry that you were a sister to Jay's living conditions. I'm proud that you did not transfer that behavior to your own child because many times it happens. You were fortunate because you became wise enough to know that people "did" care and did what they could to help you. That knowledge definitely minimizes the sting. I wish you the best. :-)

Heidi: I hope little Jay made it as well and remained a loving person.

SHaE-SHaE: Each time I get to the part where he's at the counter, I get all choked up. Thank you for being a GREAT mom. :-) People don't stop to realize that these children "grow up" and move out into the world and tend to carry whatever they "received" with them.

This is an extraordinary post. It truly breaks my heart when I hear about abused children and the parents who treat them like objects with no feelings of regret. I will say a prayer for little Jay and all the other children like them. I hope one day they realize people really do care.

Heartbreaking story that brought tears to my eyes as I visualized little Jay and what he had to go through. That is one of my favorite quotes as well. I hope little Jay made it okay.

SP -

I was a kid like Jay. In a small town where EVERYONE KNEW what was going on. All my life I thought no one noticed or cared; even the CPS workers were friends with the family and turned a blind eye.

As an adult I found out that in small ways, lots of people did what they could. Which is why I think I'm a productive person and a good mom today. Enough people reached out and cared just a little, and I latched onto that, rejected what I grew up with.

I hope Jay did, too.

Spark Plug,

A very moving story. Unfortunately, these things (and worse) are happening around the world each and every second. I'm very glad you are one of the few people who walk the talk and speak up - and at such a young age. Zee
