Think Safety
Posted by myideas1 on November 25th, 2008
Once again, the holiday season is upon us. Though this can be a very exciting time, it is also a very vulnerable time for everyone. As you go shopping and traveling to spend time with family and friends, remember to practice safety.
Neglecting to wear seat belts, drinking and driving, driving over the speed limit, and interpersonal violence because of too much alcohol are all simple things which occur that can ultimately change lives forever.
I have experienced a major trauma in my own family, and I know firsthand about the emotional and financial burden it can place on everyone. I guess that’s why I’m committed to reminding people to do all they can to stay safe.
I always like to stress safety by sharing an interview granted to us by Dr. Mark Walker, Director of Surgical Health Collective, in metro Atlanta. Unfortunately, Dr. Walker has seen numerous major injuries during his career, which simply could have been avoided. So this holiday season, please practice safety for those you love, your fellow human beings, and above all else, practice it for yourself.

Hey, I am still recovering from my shoulder surgery, but wanted to drop by and comment on your latest post. I still read lots of posts but cannot type for extended periods of time, so my commenting is limited. I enjoyed this post and I am glad I dropped by.

Thanks for the reminder!!! The holidays can be fun but sometimes we just don’t pay enough attention. Heading to listen to the interview now.

Neglecting your own safety is a selfish act; it has a direct effect on people that love that person.

Thanks for the reminder. Holidays are super busy for everyone but we shouldn’t be too busy to neglect safety.

It’s certainly important to be safe. Thanks for the reminder. We all get so busy during the holidays, but as you said we need to take the time to keep ourselves and others safe.

Great advice. People sometimes forget the importance of being safety minded until it’s too late.

Can’t be said enough. Many needless tragedies occur during the holidays because of carelessness.
Hope that you and yours remain safe, sound and blessed!

Definitely a good reminder - for all the time. Too easy to get caught up with making ends meet, and carelessness sets in. Always a great reminder!

People should always think about their own safety for their own sake and for their loved ones! We always teach our kids to remind each other about their seat belt when we get in the car. We only have one life and we should take care of it!

Oh yes, staying safe is very important especially during the festive season. You don’t want a joyous occasion to turn into a sombre one!
