Dr. Gloria Campbell D’Hue: Destined For Greatness

DrGloriaCampbell-Dhue3photo.jpgDr. Gloria Campbell D’Hue, affectionately known as Atlanta’s Dermatologist to the Stars, was nurtured in a warm, loving and spiritual environment where education and entrepreneurship were constantly encouraged. From the time she was three years old, she wanted to become a doctor.

After graduating from Morris Brown College in Atlanta, she began medical school in San Francisco. Unfortunately, her education was cut short because her mother became ill with breast cancer. After one year of medical school, she went back home, making her mother her primary concern.

After her mom passed away, she was left in charge of raising her sisters. Taking odd jobs, and at one time making only .75 cents an hour, she managed the best way she could to make ends meet.

Though it was difficult, Dr. D’Hue persevered, never giving up on her goal of becoming a physician. After being out of school for two years, she pressed on, eventually becoming the second African American woman to be accepted into Emory University School of Medicine. In addition, she was the first female African American dermatologist in the state of Georgia.

Dr. D’Hue has been ‘taking care of the skin you’re in’ for 25 years.

Listen and be inspired by her commitment to excellence and perseverance, not to mention her warm personality, which have all earned Dr. Gloria Campbell D’Hue a place in our hearts and a place in Atlanta’s History Center!
